Exploring Critical Mass through connection, creativity & collaboration
On the Vision Train, our core theme for 2026 is Connection.
Since the beginning, Vision Train has operated counter to much of what has become normalized in online communities, which often prioritize networking over relating and growth for growth’s sake. At Vision Train, something slower, stranger, and more human is unfolding.
Technology has allowed us to gather across continents and cultures in ways that would have once been unimaginable. What matters now is how we choose to meet each other once we arrive.
The Vision Train is a place where visionary artists gather. But who are visionary artists? Over the past several years, our Trips have brought together people from vastly different backgrounds, disciplines, cultures, and creative practices. Musicians meeting philosophers. Painters meeting technologists. Organizers meeting mystics. Strangers becoming collaborators. Collaborators becoming friends. After spending a bit of time on the train, these strangers will often admit, if you ask, that they, too, are artists.
In a world seemingly bent on conflict, artists continue to reach for creativity as their shield and sword.
We are growing.
Not through force.
Not through uniformity.
Creativity comes to life through resonance.
Perhaps this is part of how critical mass begins: not something we manufacture or force into existence, but something that emerges naturally when meaningful connections are nurtured over time within a living system.
We believe meaningful cultural change emerges through ecosystems rooted in trust, participation, creativity, and diversity not only of identity, but of perspective and practice. The point is not simply to have more connections. Instead, we aim to cultivate connections that are sustainable enough to take on a life of their own.
The Vision Train is only one small part of a much larger regenerative movement already unfolding across the world. More and more, we are finding others devoted to building spaces centered around creativity, collaboration, humanity, ecology, healing, and shared imagination.
We’ve shared a bit about the growing ecosystem of creators, collaborators, and change-makers finding one another around the world. Now we want to show you. This short clip is from the most recent Critical Mass Trip on March 27th on the Vision Train.
Align with the Critical Mass - Add your name to the Airtable

If you Google “critical mass,” you’ll likely encounter two things: a group of audacious cyclists taking over city streets, and a whole lot of information about nuclear reactors.
But somewhere between momentum, density, movement, and encounter, the metaphor begins to open up into something strangely human.
Critical Mass, on the Vision Train, began during the 5 year Anniversary week as an experiment in collective imagination: an eight-hour global art jam weaving together invocations, live DJ sets, visual art, poetry, movement, conversation, and creative emergence from people gathering across the planet in real time.
Our original goal was simple and symbolic: to gather 333+ artists aboard the train at once in support of cultivating the conditions for emergence.
Now the project is evolving.
Again and again, people arrive aboard the Vision Train in wildly different ways, and somehow begin circling similar visions: regeneration, collaboration, beauty, ecology, humanity, shared imagination, and the desire to participate more consciously in shaping the future together.
And strangely enough, it was never really about the numbers. What continues to move us most is how deeply recognizable the experience feels when people are given space to ask: “What if?” What if creativity became collaborative instead of competitive? What if culture became participatory again? What if artists, organizers, healers, educators, technologists, musicians, and communities began finding one another in meaningful ways across disciplines and continents?
What if the Vision Train was even more real?
For years, artist Amanda Sage has imagined the Vision Train not only as a digital gathering space, but one day as a real train carrying creativity, connection, and collaboration from community to community. In sharing with the world, the vision continues to evolve.

More and more, we are recognizing the importance of connecting with others carrying visions larger than any one person can hold alone: visions for our communities, visions for society, visions for the Earth itself.
Critical Mass now continues as a monthly trip aboard the Vision Train, featuring live DJs, open creative space, collaborative experimentation, conversation, and shared expression from a growing global ecosystem of creators and changemakers.
Come alone and observe. Bring a friend, your family, your classroom, your online community, or anyone else longing for a more creative and connected world. The Vision Train is a growing global social atmosphere, and there is always room aboard.
